So, here we are then. My first Blog. Thought I might as well document the next few months of my life (at least), seeing as it might start to get interesting (finally!)
If you haven't just come from there, take a look at my website, which I'm currently updating, after an absence of way too long.
Well, the big news in my life right now is that I'm (almost) gainfully employed! Went for an interview yesterday and was offered the job on the spot! I was somewhat dumbstruck by this, as the way it usually goes is many months of waiting after an interview before finally being sent a rejection letter/e-mail/postcard/nothing at all. But it seems that I was the most suitable for the job. Finally, I've found a use for my radio degree! I honestly never thought this day would come.
So, my job then. I am to be a runner (glamorous, no, but it's a start in the industry, which is all I ask) for an audio house in Soho called Wild Tracks. My job will involve delivering tapes to other offices around Soho (I'm to know Soho like the back of my hand within a month, apparently), opening and preparing studios for clients (one of which is The Cartoon Network, which is cool), and of course the obligatory coffee and toast-making duties which all runners are employed for. I know this job won't make me my fortune, but it's the foot in the door that I've been looking for that will hopefully get me the contacts I need to make my millions in the future. :o)
Right, now I have to go and hand my notice in at Boots, my employer for the past six years. Eep! Wish me luck!
